| Q: | Why BrownBagWalls?
| A: | As a regular paperhanger, I came across this by watching a decorating show and I put my own slant on it with a one-of-a-kind look when I sealed it. It is a special formula, but it is great and easy to do. No faux painting or fighting seams.
| Q: | Where can I use it?
| A: | It is great over paneling, damaged sheetrock, painted and textured walls, cement block, RVs, mobile and manufactured homes, cedar boards, and other surfaces. I have put it in every room imaginable, even garages and restaurants.
| Q: | Where can I find the materials?
| A: | I have given the links for all of the mandatory materials. If you don't use these brands, it doesn't mottle or spot. To be fair, you can put up any brown paper over any primer and then use any topcoat product you want, but to get the look in the pictures, the brands are necessary. The instructions have the names and where to buy, but just e-mail me or call if you have trouble. Start at Lowe's for the paste and paper. The mandatory primer/sealer is harder to find but email me or call me at 830-560-2505 for the Draw-tite sealer and I will direct you to the closest place to buy, depending on where you live.
| Q: | Can you send me the materials?
| A: | Yes! I don't officially sell product but I want to make sure we get what you need in your hands while you are excited to get started. Call (830-560-2505) or email at UnderOver@brownbagwalls.com and tell me what you need.
| Q: | Can it be another color?
| A: | Right now the success is with the brown builder paper and the red rosin roofing/flooring paper for the two natural colors. However, it can be glazed, faux painted, or painted normally. There are endless possibilities as it is a great finish all on its own, but can be enhanced many ways.
| Q: | Is it removable?
| A: | Yes, like regular wallpaper, it can be removed, but also can be lined or textured over for painting. It can be wallpapered over as well.
| Q: | What is the cost compared to regular wallpaper?
| A: | If you are hiring a professional, it will cost you about the same labor amount as regular installation and preparation. However, materials are included and you aren't buying wallpaper or paint. If you are doing it yourself, it is minimal in cost, but takes time and willingness to be a little messy, but easier than installing regular wallpaper.
| Q: | Is it washable and able to be repaired if damaged?
| A: | The topcoat is very durable and can be washed. If it damages, which is hard to do actually, a Band-Aid type patch is put on with little effort and no detection.
| Q: | Over paneling, do I have to do something to the grooves?
| A: | This is the best part. Believe it or not, you do not have to fill the grooves or do anything to them except seal/prime the whole wall of paneling. If you use the Draw-Tite, upon drying, the brownbag will span the grooves and you will not detect the paneling at all. It is my favorite application. I love doing brownbag over paneling.
| Q: | In the instructions, what do you mean by "paste the inside of the curve"?
| A: | I am sure there is a better way to explain this, but once you tear the paper you will understand. When torn, the paper retains the shape it had while on the roll, curled or curved up. Consistently paste the inside of the curve or curl because if you don't, the pieces will shade differently on the wall. I'll send a picture to anyone who needs to see what I mean.
| Q: | Can I paint it or make it a different color?
| A: | Yes, it is more work but it can be handpainted before you tear the paper, after you tear the paper and even after you put it on the wall. The sky is the limit.
| Q: | Do you wrinkle or crumple the paper at all?
| A: | Nope. Too much work for too little effect. Instead I let the materials do the work. The combination of the paste and the sealer and the paper automatically give the mottled, faux effect. Why mess with a good look?
